Yoga
I am an experienced registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance (E-RYT500) with over 20 years of teaching experience. I am strongly influenced by the Iyengar tradition and teach Hatha, Iygengar-based, Gentle, Restorative, Yin, and Vinyasa Flow classes. My classes emphasize individual goals and intentions, mindfulness, alignment, and deepening the connection with the breath. Where applicable, I focus on assisting students in finding the appropriate balance of muscular effort, and relaxation and release. I aim to help students increase strength, balance, flexibility, and peace of mind. My primary yoga teacher is Kofi Busia and other influences include Angela Farmer, Erich Schiffmann, Leeann Carey, and Mark Stephens among many.
My classes are further influenced by my massage/bodywork and structural integration training (see below), Vipassana meditation courses, and yoga service programs at the Mount Madonna Center and Pacific Cultural Center in Santa Cruz. I further draw upon learnings from my past certification in personal training and techniques from physical therapists, cranial sacral therapists, Pilates teachers, and others who teach muscular activation and joint manipulation techniques. I teach public, private, Zoom, and corporate yoga as well as workshops and retreats. I have been teaching since 2002. To learn more about my teaching, check out the reviews on YogaTrail. I have been in the field of yoga and bodywork since 2002 and specialize in therapeutic bodywork and treating people with injuries and pain using various levels of intensity. I have trained in a variety of modalities and my work emphasizes integrative bodywork that is influenced by my years of teaching yoga and focuses on fascia, joint mobilization, and stability. Additionally, I use techniques that include cranial sacral therapy and polarity to help with the integration and therapeutic process. I am committed to continuing education and providing client-centered sessions. I am now also offering Morales Method® Structural Integrations Series Sessions. Contact me at lisa@lisagyoga.com if you have any questions or if you would like to set up a session.

Mental Telehealth
I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and draw on various different evidenced-based approaches centered on individual client needs. I am particularly interested in helping people navigate trauma, anxiety disorders, OCD, and neurodivergence and have experience working with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families. Additionally, I enjoy helping couples with communication and diversity issues and I am adept at communicating with teens. In working with families, I feel it is important to understand the impact of traumas endured in previous generations to assist in moving away from blame.
I am passionate about both cognitive methodologies and approaches that acknowledge the physical effects of stress as well as the impact of implicit memories which are memories that are unconscious and unintentional and can result in challenging automatic responses. I am eager to help you where you are at!
